More than 1,000 people have now enrolled in the CBAA’s Community Radio Broadcasting Codes of Practice (2025) eLearning course. We’re hearing great stories from across the sector. At 89.3 Gulf FM in South Australia, volunteers (pictured below) recently celebrated completing the course. Meanwhile, at 3MDR in Victoria, the station has made course completion a requirement, meaning that 100% of the board and 95% of presenters have already taken part. This course is a simple and accessible way to build a shared understanding of the updated Codes across your station. Start today and share it with your staff and volunteers - https://lnkd.in/gnwAFWzE

Building strong and successful community broadcasters.
About us
Building strong and successful community broadcasters. Our work falls into two key areas: 1. Growing stations capability From webinars, conferences and events through to initiatives like the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap), the Community Radio Network and the Digital Radio Project and resources like our soon to be launched online resource hub the CBAA works with radio stations to ensure they are capable and sustainable. The CBAA is the go-to source for information, knowledge and advice on how to run a radio station. 2. A Healthy Community Broadcasting Environment The CBAA plays a key role in building a healthy environment in which community broadcasting can thrive. We do this by raising public, community and social awareness of community broadcasting and by proactively working with influential stakeholders to strengthen their knowledge, understanding and support. We undertake significant research on the sector to ensure effective leadership.

CBAA Music Director Andrew Khedoori and Head of Advocacy and Communications Reece Kinnane presented at the Regional and Remote Music Summit in Byron Bay last week. It was a great chance to inform the wider Australian music industry that community broadcasting is and will be a vital thread in the rich artistic and cultural fabric of remote Australia and regional towns. Workshops also highlighted how community broadcasters support regional artists to find their audience, promote gigs, venues and events, and partners with local training and skills development. Our thanks to everyone who put forth ideas on how to ensure community radio remains a strong platform for Australian music, and to MusicNSW for putting together the event.

Music Director Andrew Khedoori and Head of Advocacy and Communications Reece Kinnane are representing the CBAA at the Regional and Remote Music Summit, presented by MusicNSW in Byron Bay. It's been a great opportunity to learn about issues impacting Australian artists, the music industry and the community at large. This afternoon at the summit community radio's role in the Australian music landscape will be explored with research underway by Monash University's Professor Shane Homan, followed by a workshop into the future of community radio which will tackle how to keep community radio thriving as a home for local music and regional voices. We'll share insights from these sessions next week. Pictured here are: - A session moderated by Chris O'Neill and featuring Raechel Whitchurch, Matt Johnston, Jack Parsons and Ashlyn Koh on touring regional and remote Australia, where Chris O'Neill highlighted the importance of finding reciprocity in regional areas. - A discussion on 'co-creation done the right way' in Touring Networks and Cultural Exchange featuring Rhoda Roberts AO, David Bridie, Letisha Ackland, and Joji Malani, and moderated by Mark Smith. Another session of note was Yarning Strong, presented by Support Act, which centred the social emotional wellbeing and mental health of First Nations peoples working in the music industry. The session featured Kaleena Smith (Briggs), Catherine Satour, Angus Field and Warren Mason.

Thanks to Barry for this in-depth and engaging Q&A.
